Delhi beat Kings by 9 wickets

New Delhi, May 1 (IBNS): In the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Daredevils defeated Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets here on Friday.

After restricting Kings for 118 runs, Delhi batsmen reached the target of 119 runs by losing just a wicket in 13.5 overs.

Mayank Agarwal (52*) and Shreyas Iyer (54) added 106 runs in the first innings and nearly finished the match for Delhi.

Axar Patel broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Iyer.

Agarwal and Saurabh Tiwary (5*) reached the target without losing any further wicket.

Nathan Coulter-Nile earlier destroyed the Kings batting line-up  as he picked up four wickets to restrict Kings at 118 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

David Miller  remained the top scorer for the side with his 42.
