Coronavirus Outbreak: Shoaib Akhtar blames Pakistan's all-weather ally China for its eating habits

Islamabad/IBNS: While Pakistan government seemed to be standing by its strategic ally China in the time of Coronavirus scare worldwide, to the point that it made no effort to evacuate its own students from Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak, the South Asian nation's people seemed not amused.

Pakistan's former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, who is known popularly known as Rawalpindi Express, took a direct and rather a racist dig at Chinese people over the spread of Coronavirus and blamed their eating habits for the global crisis ranging from economic losses to the impact on Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well as the postponement the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He said people are more terrified due to Coronavirus rather than terrorism.

Expressing his disappointment on the virus outbreak through his Youtube channel, Akhtar said: "When God has given you so much livestock, why can't you eat that? Why do you have to eat bats, cats and dogs, drink their urine, their blood, and spread the virus in the entire world? I don't understand, I'm really angry. They've gotten the whole world at stake, these Chinese."

He said while he is concerned about the health condition and economic losses throughout the world, what angers him most is the impact on PSL and IPL.

"Cricket returned to Pakistan after years and now it's going to be forced behind closed doors. Overseas players have to go back to their countries. We were having so much fun. And we have to stop all that, why? Because some Wuhan people want to eat bats and drink their urine?" slammed the former Pakistani fast bowler.

He clarified that he is not against the Chinese people but went one to say that they have not only doomed themselves but created dangers for others too.

He also expressed concern that in a country like India where the population is so high, the virus will cause mayhem.

Over 5000 deaths have been reported from the COVID-19 across the world and more than 1.5 lakh people are infected.
