Balarampur Chini East India Bridge Tournament: Baba Blues bag team championship, Soumitra & Mrityunjoy win pairs title

Kolkata/IBNS: City based Baba Blues, represented by  Subrata Saha, Vibhas Todi, Pinaki Prasad Khan, Sanjit Dey, struck form to bag the team title while Soumitra Chakraborty & Mrityunjoy De duo won the crown in pairs event of the Balarampur Chini  East India Bridge Championship, West Bengal Bridge Association informed here on Monday.

Baba Blues, who emerged best in eight team super league with 93,48  Victory Points (VPs) after preliminary rounds became richer by rupees fifty thousand and Soumitra & Mrityunjoy who amassed 849.4 Match Points (MPs) got rupees sixteen thousand as prize money for the winners in team and pairs events  respectively.

At the end of the super league for team event, Baba Blues was followed by Trambak Rubber ( 86.56 VPs), Team Hemant Jalan (80.17 VPs), Ghosh’s IV ( 79.81 VPs), Balarampur Chini ( 79.34 VPs,), Team Hemant Jalan (58.38 VPs),  Erni’s (50.85 VPs) and Paaass (26.5 VPs).

In the pairs event  Sujit Bhattacharya & Swapan Some finished second  collecting 836.6 MPs while Prasanta Bera & Sagar Bhuiya (831.4 MPs), Arup Kumar Hudait & Animesh Mazumder ( 829.6 MPs) and Samir Basak & Ravi Goenka. ( 813.4 MPs ) finished 3rd , 4th and 5th respectively.

Altogether 72 teams from various eastsern Indian states beside Mumbai played in the team event while 72 pairs competed for the pairs title.
