Australian cricketer Peter Siddle retires
Melbourne/IBNS: Australia fast bowler Peter Siddle on Sunday announced his retirement from international cricket.
Siddle made the announcement to his teammates shortly before day four of the second Test against New Zealand in MCG here.
Known for his smart bowling, Peter took 221 wickets in 67 Tests at an average of 30.66 and helped Australia retain the Ashes in England last summer.
Having considered retiring after this year's Ashes, Siddle told coach Justin Langer of his decision a day before his match-winning final over for the Adelaide Strikers in the KFC BBL on Friday, reported Cricket Australia.
Peter is going to play domestically for Victoria, the Adelaide Strikers and English county side Essex.
"I'm still going to play cricket for Victoria, still going to go over and play county cricket for Essex, I love playing cricket," he was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.
"So I'm going to keep playing for as long as I can," he said.
Peter had made his Test debut in Mohali in 2008 against a star-studded India side featuring Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.
