Asian Games: Pranab Mukherjee congratulates medal winners

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday congratulated medal winners in Asian Games 2014.

"These include Ms. Mary Kom for winning the Gold Medal in the Women’s Boxing, Shri Vikas Gowda for winning the Silver Medal in the Men’s Discus Throw in Athletics, Ms. L. Sarita Devi for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Light (57-60kg) in Boxing, Ms. Pooja Rani for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Middle (69-75kg) in Boxing, Ms. Varsha Gautham for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 29er – Two Person Dinghy in Sailing and Ms. Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 29er – Two Person Dinghy in Sailing," the  President's Secretariat said in a statement.

In individual messages that have been sent to the winners, the President said, “Your achievement is an inspiration for the youth of our country. The whole country joins you and your family in celebrating this impressive achievement."

"I wish you continued success in all your future endeavours,” he said.
