Ajmal waiting for PCB Illegal Bowling Action Committee's verdict
"I shall wait for the outcome of deliberations and verdict of Pakistan Cricket Board’s Illegal Bowling Action Committee and until that process is complete, I shall not be making any further comments on the subject," Ajmal was quoted as saying by the PCB.
PCB Chairman, Shaharyar M. Khan on Tuesday said in a statement: "It is indeed disappointing in the context of Pakistan cricket and its immediate prospects. The PCB has referred the matter to its recently-formed Illegal Bowling Action Committee, which will consider the matter and revert with their views and/or recommendations and the Board shall thereafter decide what action to take.”
The PCB has contacted ex-Pakistani spinner Saqlin Mustaq to seek his help in rectifying Ajmal, media reports said.
"Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) has contacted former spin wizard Saqlain Mushtaq to seek his help in rectifying the bowling action of off-spinner Saeed Ajmal," Geo News reported.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday suspended Pakistan's cricketer Saeed Ajmal with immediate effect.
ICC confirmed that an independent analysis has found the bowling action of off-spinner to be illegal and, as such, the player has been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.
The analysis revealed that all his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
Saeed, who was reported after the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle last month, can apply a re-assessment after he has modified his bowling action in accordance with clause 2.4 of the Regulations for the Review of Bowlers Reported with Suspected Illegal Bowling Actions.
The analysis was performed on 25 August by the ICC’s accredited team of Human Movement Specialists using the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane.
Ajmal is currently the world's number one bowler in one-day internationals.
So, the suspension comes as a major blow to Pak cricket’s World Cup preparations with just 5 months remaining ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand.
