After Covid-19 pandemic gap, Bengal Premier League's 6th edition to begin on Apr 23

Kolkata/IBNS: After a two-year gap owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the West Bengal Billiards Association is set to hold the eventful Bengal Premier League's sixth edition from Apr 23.

The contest will continue till Apr 29.

Eight teams with each comprising six players will participate in the competition.

The teams are Magic Cannons, City Knights, Cue Magicians, Green Warrior, The Hurricanes, Dianamites, Shooting Stars and Dream Chasers.

Internationally acclaimed players including World Team champion Aditya Mehta, World and Asian champion Sourav Kothari, Asia Snooker No. two Ishpreet Chadha, World Team Cup champion Manan Chandra will also participate.

International title holder Pankaj Advani will make his maiden appearance in the league, which is so far the first and only tournament of its kind in the country.

The tournament will be played in a round robin format with the top four qualifying for the semi finals

Excited about the league, Kothari said, "The Bengal Premier League is a very heavy mixture of seriousness and an element of fun... Events like these are a lovely aberration from what we go through (in world championships)."

Talking to the media, Pradeep Saragoi, president, the West Bengal Billiards Association, said, "The industry is back to the post pandemic levels of buzz. Due to the pandemic situation, we were bound to halt it for two years but due to the grand success of previous years, we couldn't resist this time."
