Administrator's Challenge Cup: Defending champs Pune FC Under-17s move into semis; down Chandigarh Football Association 3-0

Chandigarh, Sept 26 (IBNS) Defending champions Pune FC Under-17s booked their place in the semifinals of the 13th Administrator’s Challenge Cup after a 3-0 victory over home side Chandigarh Football Association at the Sector-42 Football Ground in Chandigarh on Saturday.

A brace from winger Buanthanglun Samte (20th & 34th minute) and a goal from medio Muirang W (38th) handed Pune FC their third consecutive win. The result also meant Pune FC topped Group-B with nine points and qualified for the last-4.

Dominating proceedings from the word go, Pune FC struck first in the 20th minute when winger Samte scored with a brilliant attempt on Omega Vanlalhruiatluanga’s pass. The winger then doubled the lead capitalizing on the rebound from striker Lalawmpuia’s shot which was blocked by the keeper in the 34th minute.

Midfielder Muirang completed the scoring four minutes later with a long-range effort after Omega’s corner kick was cleared to seal a 3-0 win in the first half itself.

Pune FC will now face the winner from Group-C in the semifinal clash on Monday, Sept 28.
