36th Taj Bengal Golf Trophy 2017 to be held on Feb 7 , 8Kolkata, Feb 6 (IBNS): Kolkata’s lady golfers are all geared up to participate in the 36th Taj Bengal Trophy for Ladies on Feb 7 and 8.

The two-day tournament will be hosted at Tollygunge Club from 10am in the morning and will continue till 4pm in the evening on both days.

The 36-hole golf tournament is open to local Kolkata golfers with participation from Tollygunge Club, Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) and Calcutta Ladies Golf Club (CLGC). The tournament is expected to host around 58 golfers this year.

The first winner of the Taj Golf Trophy, which was established in 1981, was Anu Bindra, and she continues to play in the Cart division. The tournament boasts of an exciting line up of Kolkata’s top women golfers such as Sunita Goenka who has won the Taj Golf Trophy four times, Sheena Rawla, Poorvi Ajmera, Sonia Burman, Tara Halwasia, Sheena Rawla, Chandra Das, Reena Sen to name a few. Thirteen-year-old Karishma Samadar is one of the youngest talents to hit the greens this year.

Commenting on the tournament, Samrat Dutta, General Manager, Taj Bengal, said, “The Taj Bengal Trophy has, over the years, become one the most talked about golf events in Kolkata and has been instrumental in elevating the game for Kolkata’s Ladies Golf fraternity. I welcome all golfers to the event and wish them the very best. We look forward to an extremely successful event...”
