Mumbai/IBNS: Celebrated filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli has lauded Aditya Dhar for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which has stormed the box office.

In a detailed post on X, Rajamouli said the sequel surpassed the first part in both “scale and soul,” while praising Dhar’s “guts” in keeping audiences engaged through a four-hour-long film.

“I loved Dhurandhar-1, but The Revenge surpassed the original in both scale and soul. The writing, casting, technical execution, music, world design and direction are flawless… but it’s the emotional stakes that really ground it.

“The writing manages to weave plot twists that create genuine tension charged with emotion. @AdityaDharFilms, you hit it out of the park. It takes guts to make and release a film 4 hours long. The audience is glued to the seat till the last frame,” he wrote.

Praising lead actor Ranveer Singh, Rajamouli added, “...what a performance, man… The sequence with the sister in the shed is a masterclass in acting. From that beginning to the heart-wrenching climax, you mesmerized us both as Hamza and Jaskirat.”

On actor R. Madhavan, the Baahubali director said, “You carried the helplessness and frustration of a nation so well that we felt your success as ours.”

The sequel, starring Ranveer Singh, earned around Rs 43 crore through paid previews on Wednesday, followed by a massive opening on Thursday.

According to reports, the film has grossed over Rs 200 crore within the first two days of its release, amplifying the success of its predecessor Dhurandhar, also directed by Dhar.

In the film, Ranveer Singh appears to take control of Pakistan’s Lyari town following the death of gangster Rehman Dakait, portrayed by Akshaye Khanna.

The trailer also showcases Singh in dual roles—Jaskirat Singh Rangi and Hamza—hinting at a layered and intense storyline.

Packed with high-octane action, the film features R. Madhavan as strategic mastermind Ajay Sanyal, Arjun Rampal as ISI Major Iqbal, and Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam.
