Why was Sonakshi not named in FIR: Mahesh Bhatt on AIB Roast
Mumbai, Feb 13 (IBNS): A day after the Mumbai police registered an FIR against 14 people and others involved in the controversial AIB Roast including Karan Johar, Ranvir Singh, Arjun Kapoor, actresses Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has raised question over the complaint against her daughter while Sonakshi Sinha, who was also an attendee of the show, was left out.
Bhatt alleged that Sonakshi's name was not mentioned because she is the daughter of BJP MP (Shatrughan Sinha).
Speaking to CN-IBN, Mahesh Bhatt said: "If being part of 4000 people in the audience and laughing is a crime, then why have the other attendees not been named in the FIR. Sonakshi Sinha, who is the daughter of person ( Shatrughan Sinha, BJP MP) who is part of the present dispensation was also in the audience, why was she not named in the FIR? Certain forces are orchestrating this series of events. You have to be naive not to see that."
Following Bhatt's remark, Sonakshi has hit back on Twitter and said the FIR was pointless.
"Dear Mr.@MaheshNBhatt, a couple of pointless FIR's have been filed before this (delhi and kol if im not mistaken, in which my name was mentioned and Alia's wasnt. I don't remember my father questioning them as to how or why so.
"I do agree with u however, if these FIR's are filed on 2-3 members of the audience, why not the other 3,998. Lets not give these ppl the attention they so desperately seek, and as far as my memory serves me, nobody EVER went to jail for laughing," Sonakshi posted.
Mahesh Bhatt also replied to her tweet.
"@sonakshisinha TRUE! I could not agree with you more. Thank you for your SANE response. Amazed by your maturity at this tender age. Love," Bhatt tweeted.
This comes after a Girgaon court has directed the Tardeo Police Station in Mumbai to register an FIR against 14 people and others involved in the controversial AIB Roast including Karan Johar, Ranvir Singh, Arjun Kapoor, actresses Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt, stand up comedians, and venue officials among others.
The order was issued by C.S. Baviskar, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Girgaon Court based on a complaint filed by social activist Santosh Daundkar through Advocate Abha Singh.
Amid controversy for the alleged obscene language and content, Karan Johar earlier slammed the critics of the show.
The roast featured a panel of eight and ‘Roastmaster’ Karan Johar where Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor shared jokes about their on-screen and off-screen lives. The event was filmed in a Mumbai stadium with an audience of 4,000.
