Kolkata/IBNS: Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan, the third franchise of the 'Jawker Dhan' series directed by Sayantan Ghosal, got its trailer launched last Friday in the presence of its lead cast and crew.

The film is a spin-off of Satyajit Ray's masterpiece Sonar Kella, and it is set to make a theatrical release on May 30 this year.

Starring Shaheb Chattopadhyay and Suprobhat Das (as Mukul Dhar), the adventure of Ray continues as Mukul Dhar, who is now a middle-aged man, still finds his fate hanging by a thread of danger as he's haunted by the visions of a hidden treasure.

Actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay said, “I didn't expect that our first film, Jawker Dhan, would be a hit. But suddenly it took off and did great business. From then we realised that this franchise has a future.”

“I’m a fan of director Sayantan. I genuinely hope that this film is a much bigger hit than Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan. It is a tribute to the original Sonar Kella film and I'm fortunate to be a part of it," said actor Gaurav Chakrabarty.

As the story progresses, Bimal, Rubi, and Kumar set off on a thrilling journey with danger lurking around, through the secrets of Jaisalmer Fort.

They venture into a world that could change their lives forever through solving riddles, uncovering legends, and seeking a mythical stone (parashpathar).

Actress Koel Mallick said, “I was waiting for the release of this film and finally it's happening. This part of the franchise will always be special for me because of Sonar Kella, which is an absolute nostalgia for us. I hope everyone will love it.”

Produced by Surinder Films, the movie's trailer shows the much larger scale of the film compared to the other two parts in terms of looks, budget, and action.
