Kolkata, Jan 16 (IBNS): Filmmaker Saptarshi Majumder has said his ongoing web series The Big Bong Connection questions whether people are doing jobs in corporate sector voluntarily or out of pressure.

When asked about whether the 10-episode web series gives room to rethink and give priorities to individual choices, Saptarshi, who have an experience of working in a corporate sector for five years, said: "People are running after corporate jobs for the security of monthly salary, career growth and a stable and steady life, which by every mean is worth it."

"But are they doing it happily or they are doing it out of peer pressure, societal norms or by default mechanism in which they are growing up. That is the question."

The Big Bong Connection, which started streaming on Sony Liv from Nov last year, is a big romantic comedy in Hindi-English mixed language that connect the dreams of Rohit, a financial advisor and aspiring chef known for his bong twist in his cuisines, and Sneha, an architect who runs away from Delhi and desires to open a interior design store.

With the twist of fate, their dreams collide and the fun ride begins. Jobs goes for a toss, dreams get fried, love happens and a sizzling blast lands up from the past.

The Big Bong Connection is a cosmopolitan and hilarious concoction of food, dreams, passion, goof-ups and getting away with it, said the maker.

The film's cast includes actors Ridhima Ghosh, Shamaun Ahmed, Mithu Chakraborty, Debopriyo Mukherjee and Rii Sen.

Speaking about a scene, where the protagonist enters his office in shorts,  the filmmaker said: "It’s not only a challenge to the existing norms of corporate sector but also an act that makes the defiance visible."

The script of the web series is written by  Chandroday Pal and Saptarshi himself.
