Sushant Singh Rajput death: Film critic Rajeev Masand records statement with Mumbai Police

Mumbai/IBNS: Film critic Rajeev Masand on Tuesday recorded his statement at Mumbai's Bandra Police Station in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

According to reports, the police were likely to question him too over his reviews of the late actor's films.

Rajeev Masand has been recently called out by actress Kangana Ranaut and some social media users for his "blind articles" allegedly targeting Sushant.

In one of the articles, Rajeev had indirectly called Sushant a "skirt chaser", an "overpriced outsider".

The 34-year old actor, who was undergoing depression, had committed suicide at his flat in Mumbai's Bandra on Jun 14.

The PRs of Sushant have alleged that the actor used to get depressed over negative articles about him.

The police have recorded the statements of 35 people in the case, including his friend Rhea Chakraborty, directors Aaditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shekhar Kapur.

Police also summoned the actor's psychiatrist, Dr Kersi Chavda, to know about his medical history.

Sushant's suicide has created a storm in the tinseltown with several actors including Kangana Ranaut calling out Bollywood biggies for encouraging nepotism leading Sushant to take the extreme step.

Rhea Chakroborty last week demanded a CBI probe into the case to know the real reason that prompted him to take his life.

His last film 'Dil Bechara' will premiere on Over-the-top (OTT) platform Disney+ Hotstar on July 24.
