Supermodel Milind Soman runs barefoot from Ahmedabad to Mumbai

Ahmedabad/Mumbai, Jul 30 (IBNS): Indian supermodel and actor Milind Soman is running barefoot the 570-km-long stretch between Ahmedabad and Mumbai via Silvassa, for the Great India Run, media reported.

Soman, 50, started from Ahmedabad on July 26 and is expected to reach Mumbai on August 7.

Almost a year ago, Soman won the Iron Man title after completing one of the toughest triathlons organised by the World Triathlon Corporation in Zurich -- a course of a 3.8 km swim, an 180.2 km cycle ride and a 42.2 km run. He completed it in nearly 15 hours.

'The Great India Run', which bills itself as India's first multi-city ultra marathon, is keen to promote running as a sport in the country, media reported.

Fifteen marathon runners from India are running through six states -- Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi -- covering a distance of nearly 1,480 kilometres between July 17 and August 6, 2016.
