Mumbai, Dec 15 (IBNS): Bollywood has always been fascinated by the deep Dark mysteries of the underworld. Time and again the story of several gangsters, most prominently the infamous Don, Dawood Ibrahim has been explored by film makers. The upcoming movie titled ‘Coffee with D’ is another such take on the underworld Don’s life and times, but with a twist!

Actor Zakir Hussain plays the role of Dawood in the movie. Coffee with D also marks the debut of popular TV actor and stand-up comedian Sunil Grover.

The ‘Mashoor’ Doctor saab will be seen essaying the role of a television journalist in the film. His Character Arnab Ghosh is loosely based on the known journo Arnab Goswami.

Explaining about his role Grover says, “Arnab Goswami is an entertaining journalist, but I am not trying to imitate him. It was the director’s call to name the character Arnab. Subconsciously I might have picked up a few characteristics of Arnab, but it is a fictional film.”

On being asked about the preparation for the movie, actor Zakir Hussain disclosed that he had read many of crime writer S Hussain Zaidi’s books, especially Dongri to Dubai. But his core preparation was based on his research of Dawood through archives and news articles, which helped Zakir understand and pick up Dawood’s behavior and mannerisms.

Speaking on his look in the film Zakir revealed, “Well the real challenge was to recreate his look. There is a certain image of how the man looks and dresses. We have tried out best to come close to it.” He further added, “I can’t tell you when the movie is set and what the backdrop is, but we wanted to make the character look like the Dawood of 90’s.”

An Apex Entertainment production, Coffee with D is directed by Vishal Mishra and produced by Vinod Ramani. With the trailer all set to release on 16th December 2016, the movie will hit the theatres on 6th January 2017.
