Smriti Mandhana, Palaash Muchhal 'update' Instagram bios, spark fresh buzz after wedding postponement

Mumbai/IBNS: What was expected to be a grand, star-studded wedding has now turned into a swirl of speculation and unanswered questions.

Weeks after India’s Women’s World Cup triumph, batting star Smriti Mandhana was scheduled to marry music composer Palaash Muchhal on November 23. But the ceremony never took place.

On the morning of the wedding, Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suddenly fell ill and had to be rushed to the hospital.

A day later, Palaash too was admitted to a hospital in Sangli—Mandhana’s hometown—and was subsequently moved to Mumbai.

Smriti’s business manager later issued a statement confirming that the wedding had been postponed owing to the medical emergencies.

Fuelling online curiosity, Smriti removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram page, though a few casual photographs with Palaash still remain.

While both her father and Palaash have since been discharged, neither family has revealed a new wedding date.

In the middle of this uncertainty, social media picked up on another detail: both Smriti and Palaash updated their Instagram bios to include a ‘nazar’ (evil-eye) emoji, prompting further speculation.

Family members, however, insist there is no deeper controversy and that the delay is solely due to the back-to-back health issues.

Meanwhile, Indian cricket teammate Jemimah Rodrigues has withdrawn from the Women’s Big Bash League to stand by Smriti during this difficult period, leading fans to wonder what might be happening behind the scenes.

Palaash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, remains optimistic.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, she shared that both families are emotionally distressed by how the events unfolded.

She had even prepared a special welcome for Smriti after the wedding.

Despite the setback, Amita is confident the couple will tie the knot soon.

“Smriti and Palaash are both hurting… Palaash had dreamed of bringing his bride home. I had even planned a grand welcome. Everything will be fine—the wedding will happen very soon,” she said.
