Rituparno Ghosh's 'Bariwali' streams on Hoichoi

Kolkata/IBNS: Filmmaking legend late Rituparno Ghosh's Bengali film 'Bariwali', is set to stream exclusively on Hoichoi on the occasion of his 60th birth anniversary.

Ghosh, a trailblazer in Indian cinema, leaves an indelible mark with his exploration of emotions and relationships, making 'Bariwali', a true testament to his legacy.

'Bariwali' is a journey that delves into the life of a lonely middle-aged woman who opens her sprawling estate to a film production unit for shooting.

Directed by Ghosh, this film captures the depths of human emotions, portraying the protagonist's magnetic connection with the enigmatic director.

Their relationship blossoms during the artistic process, providing her a temporary escape from her solitude. However, as the shoot concludes, she grapples with the return of monotony, intensifying her sense of isolation.

The film boasts a stellar ensemble featuring Kirron Kher, Sudipta Chakraborty, Chironjeet Chakraborty, Roopa Ganguly, Chandan Sen, Abhishek Chatterjee.

Kiran Kher bagged the National award for the best actress for the role of Banalata beside Sudipta Chakraborty who won the National Award under the Best Supporting actress category.

Ghosh won the The Toronto International Film Festival NETPAC Prize for lending his creative prowess to 'Bariwali', aiming to craft an intimate portrayal of human emotions and the complexities of personal growth.
