Kolkata/IBNS: Tollywood superstar Rituparna Sengupta leads the all-women-cast upcoming Bengali film Najarbandi, which has recently been announced.

The film, which is directed by Debarati Bhowmick, was announced last week on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The project, which will have no male character, is a crime-thriller.

Speaking at the announcement press conference, Rituparna told IBNS, "It will be a great experience for me because the film has a complete female cast. It is unique.

"The all-women cast is the reason behind doing this film. We haven’t seen much of this sort of a film not only in India but internationally. Moreover, this film is of the thriller genre, which is loved by the audience. I think people will like the film."

Najarbandi is based on cyber-crime, an issue prevalent in the modern day of technology and also less dealt with in films.

Apart from Rituparna, the film features Madhumita Sarcar, Rajnandini Paul, Anindita Bose and others in the lead.

Speaking at the event, Madhumita says, "Debarati Bhowmick, our director, felt I would do justice to my role as she feels I get transformed once I enter the shooting floor.

"I feel very grateful for the fact she felt this way about me. I am excited to play this challenging role and see myself in a new form."
