Ranbir Kapoor plans to revive RK Studios, 3 big projects already in the works!

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly working on reviving the iconic RK Studios brand, originally launched by his grandfather, the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, in 1948 — a year after India gained independence.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Ranbir is planning to relaunch the RK banner under a new creative framework before setting up a physical space for the studio in Mumbai.

Godrej Properties had acquired the original RK Studios premises in Chembur in 2019.

However, sources close to the development told the publication that Kapoor’s focus is currently on rebuilding the production house’s identity rather than rushing into construction.

“They’re not rushing to construct a studio just yet. Right now, the priority is to re-establish the brand. Eventually, they will create a space that can house the production office and a screening theatre,” a source was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

The revived banner is expected to back three major projects, including Ranbir Kapoor’s directorial debut.

The other two are likely to include filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s next project — which may reunite Kapoor and Mukerji after their 2022 hit Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva — and a biopic on legendary singer Kishore Kumar, directed by Anurag Basu, which may feature Aamir Khan.

Industry insiders indicated that discussions are in advanced stages. “With the banner, Ranbir wants to carry forward the legacy with a modern voice. However, it’s yet to become a concrete plan,” a trade source told Mid-Day.
