Parno Mitra stars in thriller with Tollywood veteran
"My first tryst with this industry was through Titoda (Dipankar Dey) and Sudiptadi (Chakroborty) years back in Khela mega sop. When you get to work with these kind of actors it's always a learning process," Parno told IBNS at the trailer launch of the film at the upscale Princeton Club here.
"I still recall how they had taught me about acting before camera. I used to shiver more before Titoda considering I am like a kid and he is such a veteran actor having worked with film makers ranging from Satyajit Ray- when even I was not born- to Goutam Ghosh," the dusky beauty, having delivered a string of different genre films from Bedroom to 'Apur Panchali' said.
"This time he was more like a friend. We joked and he made me feel at ease. We chatted between shots. There is a lot to learn when you work with such a fantastic actor like Titoda," said Parno, who enacts a spoilt but vulnerable kid of a rich father, getting all attention since her monther's untimely death.
Dipankar Dey, the 'Sakha Prasakha' actor of late maestro Satyajit Ray, enacts a criminal lawyer in the film by the debutant director. In the film he is a guide and mentor of wayward Parno.
Averring that Sesh Anka is a thriller, Parno said: "It is the phase of thriller in Tollywood now. There can be such times. And as the thriller phase continues, our industry is also gripped by the tale of relationships as proved by some recent underproduction films including Srijit Mukherjee's Rajkahini and Pratim D Gupta's 'Saheb Bibi Golaam'. I feature in both."
"After many days we are getting offers for films on different subjects," she said.
About getting to do films by big time directors to debutants, Parno said, "My commitment remains the same. I can't give 200 per cent for a film since it has been made by a more celebrated director and 50 per cent for a film made by a so-called rookie. When the camera rolls the change immediately comes within me."
"And for making a film successful we give our best as actors, we carefully choose our subjects and take part in promotions. The rest hinges on the audience," she said.
Director Tathagata Banerjee said, "We needed someone with Titoda's screen presence in Sesh Anka for the character of a big time lawyer whose presence demands attention from all present in the courtroom. And I had none but Parno in mind for the role of the girl who is pivotal to the unfolding of mystery."
Funnyman Mir and actress June Maliah are in two other important roles in the film.
