Nag Ashwin says this on audience finding Kalki 2898 AD's first half 'slow'

Filmmaker Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone has swept the box office amid rave reviews but one area that has irked the audience, was the first half of the 3-hour-long movie.

Now, Ashwin, who is aware of the criticism, has broken his silence.

The director said as quoted by Hindustan Times, "It has been a universal response that people found the first half slow, and it’s very valid. In a three-hour film, if viewers liked two hours and 54 minutes, I will take that."

"A movie like this is beyond us. The ambition was bigger in the sense, there was a larger thing at stake than just us. Many makers were waiting for the result of this sci-fi film. If it didn’t work, it would have closed doors for more years," he added.

The film, which has breached the Rs. 500-crore mark in the box office, has its timeline commencing with Indian epic Mahabharata and merges with 2898 AD.

Kalki 2898 AD, which has been made over the years, also features Kamal Haasan, Saswata Chatterjee, Disha Patani in key roles.
