Musician A R Rahman turns 48

Mumbai, Jan 6 (IBNS): Indian musical maestro A R Rahman, who has bagged the prestigious Academy Awards twice, turned 48 years of age on Tuesday.
On his birthday, the musician will live chat with his fans on Facbook at 8 PM.
 
Fans were asked to send him their questions in advance, to which he will answer on Tuesday evening.
 
"Join me on 6th January at 8pm for a live chat right here on Facebook!," he had tweeted earlier.
 
Born as A. S. Dileep Kumar, the 'Mozart of Madras' rose to fame with his compositions in the film 'Roja'.
 
In a notable career span of two decades, Rahman has garnered acclaim for redefining contemporary Indian film music and thereby contributing to the success of several films.
 
Besides Academy Awards, he has bagged a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, two Grammy Awards, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South in addition to numerous other awards and nominations.
 
The Oscar-winning music composer had mermerised his fans with his soul touching compositions for several Hindi films like  'Bombay', 'Rangeela', ' Dil Se..', 'Taal', 'Swades', 'Rang De Basanti',  'Rockstar' and 'Jab Tak Hain Jaan' among others.
 
His Hollywood compositions for 'Slumdog Millionaire' and '127 Hours' earned him wide acclaim. Rahman also scored for the American-drama film 'People Like Us'.
 
In 2014, the musician has delivered hits with his compositions from the films 'Highway' and 'Lingaa' among others.
