Kolkata/IBNS: Tollywood actress-turned Indian politician Mimi Chakraborty, who had mesmerised the audience with her role Pupe in late Rituparno Ghosh's 'Gaaner Oparey' a decade ago, recreated the feel of the popular Bengali television serial in a music video paying respect to Rabindranath Tagore.

Besides featuring in the music video, Chakraborty sang Tagore's song 'Amaro Porano Jaha Chay' impressing her millions of fans.

The actress in a black saree can be seen in multiple locations of the city.

The music video was published by Chakraborty's YouTube channel 'Mimi Chakraborty Creations'.

Chakraborty, who made her Tollywood debut with 'Bapi Bari Jaa', went on to be part of a number of successful Bengali films including 'Bojhena Shey Bojhena', 'Proloy', 'Khaad', 'Posto', 'Crisscross'.

In big screens, she will next be seen in 'Dracula Sir' but all theatre houses are presently closed due to Covid-19 spread.

Chakraborty took a plunge in politics by successfully contesting in the 2019 Lok Saba elections as a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate.

She went on to win from West Bengal's Jadavpur constituency by a huge margin.
