Mumbai, Aug 14 (IBNS): The music of Bollywood's upcoming sports biopic film 'Mary Kom' was launched in Mumbai on Wednesday amidst much fanfare.
The red carpet was overseen by boxing gloves hanging from the ceiling, the entrance wall displayed 18 of the 20 medals won by MC Mary Kom and the stage was setup like a boxing ring.

Hosted by actress Priyanka Chopra herself, the event witnessed the gathering of director Omung Kumar, producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, debutant music directors Shashi – Shivamm and the entire cast of the movie.

The music of the film was launched by boxer MC Mary Kom herself.

The event kicked off with Priyanka Chopra singing Chaoro, which is a slow paced soothing track from the film.

This also happens to be Priyanka Chopra’s debut as a Bollywood singer.

World Champion MC Mary Kom was present for the launch along with her family. She addressed the audience and stated her excitement on Priyanka Chopra playing the lead role in her biopic.

Mary was certain that Priyanka was the best fit.

“Like a lot of Olympic players in India, even I wasn’t recognized for my achievements. Thanks to Sanjay Sir, Omung and Priyanka, I am now as famous as them. When Omung Kumar approached me with the thought of making a film based on my life, my first thought was that he is insane!” laughed the world champion as she reminisced stories from the making of the film.

Producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali shares his thoughts on Mary Kom: "Mary Kom's story is an inspiring one that touched my heart. Not many films are based on biopics of living people, so this is a rare experiment. I am extremely proud of it.”

Director Omung Kumar had fun hosting the show with Priyanka and said, “We had the honor to present the real Mary Kom to the world on whom the movie is made. With the music launch, we are celebrating her life. Our film’s music is a mixture of fun in ziddi, love in Sukoon and saudebaazi, sadness in adhurein, Lori in chaoro, and inspiration in salaam India and ab Teri Baari hai. Great range for our film.”

‘Mary Kom’, the film is about the Indian Boxer and Olympic Bronze medallist MC Mary Kom.

Depicting her life, struggles, family and her perseverance to be the best - Priyanka Chopra stars as Mary Kom along with Darshan Kumaar, Sunil Thapa, Shishir Sharma and American actor Zachary Coffin.

Directed by Omung Kumar, ‘Mary Kom’ is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is scheduled for release on Sept 5.
