Makers agree to remove controversial scenes from Sarkar, says report

Chennai, Nov 9 (IBNS): The makers of Tamil film Sarkar have reportedly agreed to remove or mute some of the movie's controversial scenes that have drawn ire from the ruling AIADMK.

Shanmugam condemned the film saying it is an attempt to instigate violence in the society.

He has been quoted by NDTV as saying, "Through this movie, an attempt has been made to instigate violence in society. It is not less than a terrorist instigating people for violence."

Saying that the film is an attempt to pull down the AIADMK-led state government, Shanmugam had also threatened to take action against Vijay and the entire team.

On Wednesday, Kadambur C Raju, another state minister, had threatened to take action if objectionable scenes are not removed.

Raju had also said he will consult Chief Minister E Palaniswamy about taking an action.

This is not the first time Vijay's film has been embroiled into a controversy. In 2017, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had objected Mersal for promoting wrong conceptions about several central government schemes.
