Kuch Kuch Hota Hai turns 24: Karan Johar says the movie will remain special in his heart

Mumbai: Director Karan Johar on Sunday became emotional as his directorial debut movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai turned 24.

Johar said the movie will always remain special in his heart.

"Time flies…but kuch kuch hota hai will always remain special in my heart. My first film!!! Made with my best people, best team and the best energies around…thank you for still making it ‘pop’ in pop culture even 24 years down the line and keeping it ‘cool’," Karan wrote on Instagram.

The movie featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji in the lead roles.

The music was composed by Jatin–Lalit, which was the biggest seller of the year. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released on 16 October 1998, in India and United Kingdom and received positive reviews from critics who praised the setting, music, direction, cinematography, screenplay, performances and overall presentation.

The film was successful in India and abroad, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of the year and the third highest-grossing Indian film at that time.
