Kolkata: Popular Bengali TV actor Sonali Chakraborty dies

Mumbai: Bengali actor Sonali Chakraborty, who worked in several popular TV serials, passed away in a private hospital in Kolkata on Monday.

She is the wife of actor  Shankar Chakraborty.

She was 59.

Sonali was suffering from physical ailments for a long time.

She had to be admitted to the hospital time and again.

Shankar Chakraborty, her husband, also confirmed the same, UNI news agency reported.

Both Sonali and Shankar Chakraborty were popular faces to Bengali audiences. The couple has been a part of many Bengali Television shows, Telefilms, and movies.

Sonali was a popular face in Bengali TV and films and worked in programmes like Nachni, Gaatchora and others.

Apart from TV serials, she also worked in some Bengali movies. Her performance in Rachana Banerjee and Ferdous Ahmed-starrer Har Jeet (2002) earned praise and loved from her fans. She also starred in Bandhan (2004) in a key role alongside bengali movie actors Jeet and Koel Mallick.

Sonali's last rites were performed at Keoratola Crematorium at 10:30 am.
