Javed Akhtar turnes 72

Mumbai, Jan 17 (IBNS): Bollywood's popular lyricist-poet Javed Akhtar turned 72 on Tuesday.

Bollywood stars wished him on his birthday.

"To the man whose words can start a revolution or calm a raging storm...Happy Birthday @Javedakhtarjadu!," Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor said.

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan posted: "Javed ji wish you a very Happy Birthday! @Javedakhtarjadu."

Actor Sunil Shetty wished him by saying: "Wt cn 1 write fr 1 of d finest wordsmiths of every emotion Happy Bday @javedakhtarjadu sa'ab Alwys a pleasure 2 live r feelings in ur words."

Musician Shankar Mahadevan tweeted: "Happy Birthday to my dearest friend , philosopher and guide ! Love you so much sir !! @Javedakhtarjadu."

Actress Shraddha Kapoor said: "Happy birthday @Javedakhtarjadu sir!!! Have an amazing day! Lots of love ."

Akhtar is a mainstream writer and some of his most successful work was carried out with Salim Khan as half of the script-writing duo credited as Salim-Javed between 1971 and 1982.

He is a recipient of the Padma Shri (1999), Padma Bhushan (2007)
