It's raining Grammys for India: AR Rahman shares selfie with Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan

Music maestro AR Rahman Monday congratulated percussionist Zakir Hussain's supergroup Shakti, which also includes singer Shankar Mahadevan, V Selvaganesh and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan, for winning Best Global Music Album for ‘This Moment’ at the Grammy Awards.

Rahman, who was present at the biggest music award across the world, shared a selfie with the band members of Shakti - Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, V Selvaganesh and congratulated them on their grand feat.

Sharing the image, AR Rahman wrote, "It's raining Grammys for India …Congrats Grammy winners #ustadzakirhussain (3grammys) @shankar.mahadevan (first Grammy) @selvaganesh." ICYDK, Zakir Hussain and flautist Rakesh Chaurasia also took home the coveted Grammy award for Best Global Music Performance for their song Pashto. As We Speak, to which Pashto belongs, won Best Contemporary Instrumental Album as well.

India shined at the Grammys on Sunday with musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain's fusion band ‘Shakti’ winning the ‘Best Global Music Album’.

They won the acclaimed international award for their latest album ‘This Moment’.

The official Grammy's X page shared an image where Mahadevan and another band member Ganesh Rajagopalan accepted the award on stage.

"Congrats Best Global Music Album winner - 'This Moment' Shakti. #GRAMMYs," the X post said.

The album was released on June 30 last year.

With this Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has bagged three Grammy awards.
