Kolkata, July 5 (IBNS): Bollywood star Govinda with newcomer Richa Sharma visited the 'City of Joy' to promote their movie 'Abhinay Chakra' on Friday.

Govinda turned a producer for the first time with his Mangal Tara Films. The actor seems to be back with a lead role  after four years since ‘Bhaagam Bhaag’.

The trailers of the film show Govinda rising from the phoenix of an action actor and a comedian. His clean shaven aggressive look brings him back to his earlier avatar. “I am playing an idealistic cop in this film," said Govinda.

“Abhinay Chakra – the name is inspired from the realization that we all have some roles (abhinay)  to play in the stage of life where some are genuine and some are fake. It’s all about realization," he said.

The film is focused to influence the moral mindsets of the young generations.

Richa Sharma, who plays the role of his blind wife, looked excited. This being her first film she thanked Govinda for inspiring her to try acting which was her passion after modeling.

Of Govinda, she said: “He has been very helpful, I have learnt a lot from him. He is a very polite and that’s why he is a star. I have learnt to stay grounded from him.”

The film is shot in a record time of 29 days; the director is Deepankar Senapati. The songs show Govinda back in his energetic hip hop avatar. The actor claimed to have lost a lot of weight for this film.

Both the leads thanked Kolkata. “I have always got support from Kolkata, this city has always been there beside me, is dharti ko pranaam hai.”

Richa felt it was amazing to promote her film in her own beloved city as she has been staying in Kolkata after her marriage to Manish Sharma, a city based industrialist.

Later on  Govinda shook a leg with Richa entertaining the Kolkata fans at Mani Square Mall. They also visited The Heritage School and St. James School to promote their film.

The film releases on Aug 29.
