Gadar 2 shatters BO record on Independence Day

Film critic Taran Adarsh said Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 has created history as the movie emerged as the highest-grosser ever on Independence Day.

The movie earned over Rs. 55 crores on Tuesday.

India celebrated Independence Day on Tuesday and Gadar 2 registered the highest business marked on the special day of the year.

The movie also crossed the Rs.200 crore mark, making it one of the biggest Bollywood success stories of the year.

Adarsh tweeted: "CREATES HISTORY ON INDEPENDENCE DAY… Highest-ever biz on *15 August*… Yes, #Gadar2 hits the ball out of the stadium on #IndependenceDay… Fri 40.10 cr, Sat 43.08 cr, Sun 51.70 cr, Mon 38.70 cr, Tue 55.40 cr. Total: ₹ 228.98 cr. #India biz… BLOCKBUSTER RUN continues."

The movie is directed and produced by Anil Sharma, and written by Shaktimaan Talwar.

A sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles from the first film.
