A video has gone viral showing the French audience enthusiastically cheering the glimpse of director S.S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi, which was screened at La Cinémathèque Française in Paris on Friday.

The exclusive preview was presented following a special screening of RRR.

The official Instagram handle of the film shared the clip, highlighting the strong response from the audience. The post read: “1000’s of miles away from India, 100’s of French audience at an #RRRMovie screening and the applause for the #Varanasi glimpse was surreal.”

Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the film with V. Vijayendra Prasad and S.S. Kanchi, Varanasi features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The film also marks Priyanka Chopra’s return to Indian cinema after a long hiatus.

The preview reportedly shows Mahesh Babu in an intense action sequence, including a striking moment where he is seen riding a bull.

With an estimated budget of ₹1,400 crore, Varanasi is set to become one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The film’s music is composed by M.M. Keeravani, cinematography is handled by P.S. Vinod, and visual effects are supervised by V. Srinivas Mohan.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release in April 2027.
