Fight against COVID19: Amitabh Bachchan, family members pay tribute to medical practitioners, essential service providers

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan led his family as they joined the rest of the nation in clapping and paying tributes to medical practitioners and other essential service workers who are fighting against COVID 19 outbreak in India.

Bachchan shared a video of the event.

"At 5pm March 22nd the entire nation came out & applauded NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS ! PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN - JAI HIND," he tweeted.

Entire India, ranging from north to south, joined to clap or beat utensils as they responded to the appeal made by Indian PM Narendra Modi last week to pay tribute to medical practitioners and other essential service providers who are combating against Coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Actor Akshay Kumar also joined the event and shared video of the applauds.

Director Karan Johar also joined the fight and prasied the health workers in his own way.

The COVID 19 outbreak has so far claimed seven lives in the nation with Sunday reporting the highest number of deaths on a single day at three.

Indian PM Narendra Modi tweeted to thank people who responded to his appeal and said it is the beginning of victory in a long battle against the pandemic.

The event occurred on a day when the entire nation is observing 'Janata Curfew', the latest measure taken by the country to fight against the disease which has so far hit normal lives in 150 countries. 

So far, 341 people have been infected by COVID 19 cases in India so far.

India has reported seven COVID 19 deaths so far.

The last death was reported from Surat city in Gujarat.
