Dinner date meant casting couch in Bollywood: Sherlyn Chopra reveals

Mumbai/IBNS: As several stories are heard about the prevalence of casting couch in the Hindi film industry, actress Sherlyn Chopra has recently revealed her own experiences of facing such issues during her initial days in Bollywood.

When she was asked about casting couch during an interview with koimoi, Chopra said "dinner date" was the term used for "compromises" in the Hindi film industry but she was clueless about it then.

She told the media, "...initially when I was a nobody in the eyes of the world, I would often approach filmmakers hoping that they would see in me the potential that I saw in me.

I would go to them with my portfolio and they would be like ‘Acha okay, thik hai, hum milte hai dinner par’. And I would be like when should I come for the dinner, and they would tell me to come at 11 or 12 in the night. And I used to be clueless about it that time.”

"I didn’t understand at that point of them that their idea of dinner is different. For them dinner means compromise. So when this happened like four to five times, then I realised so that is what dinner stands for . Dinner means ‘come to me baby’," she added.

Earlier speaking about casting couch, actress Surveen Chawla had once said she was asked by directors to show them cleavage and thighs.

In an interview with PinkVilla, Chawla said, "A director wanted to see how my cleavage looked. Another director wanted to see how my thighs looked."

"I went to give this audition and the person told me, 'You are overweight'. I was just 56 kilos and I thought the person needed glasses," she added.
