Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey leaked on X—Over 2 million watched before it was removed

Nearly two million people are believed to have watched a leaked copy of Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Odyssey on X before the unauthorised upload was removed from the Elon Musk-owned social media platform, according to media reports.

At around 2:25 p.m. PT, an X post stating, "Someone uploaded 'The Odyssey' full movie on X. Can you believe it?" amplified a message from a now-suspended account that contained what Variety confirmed was a high-quality copy of the film.

The post amassed more than 2.1 million views within just two-and-a-half hours before the account was suspended and the content removed.

According to Variety, the piracy incident appears to have had little impact on the film's strong box office performance during its second weekend. The Odyssey earned another $87 million domestically and continued to see robust demand for its highly sought-after IMAX 70mm screenings.

Responding to the leak, Universal Pictures said in a statement to Variety: "We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights."

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter reported that a lower-quality version of the film had also appeared on X earlier on Sunday. Although it was removed after roughly two hours, it had already attracted nearly 50,000 views before being taken down.

Despite the piracy scare, The Odyssey remains one of the biggest cinematic releases of the year. According to reports, the film has crossed $600 million at the global box office by the end of its second weekend, underscoring its continued commercial success despite the unauthorized online leaks.Nearly two million people are believed to have watched a leaked copy of Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Odyssey on X before the unauthorized upload was removed from the Elon Musk-owned social media platform, according to media reports.
