Kolkata/IBNS: The poster of Rituparna Sengupta's upcoming film Bela, a biopic on well‑known Bengali cookbook author and radio personality Bela Dey, was unveiled on Tuesday.

The film will be directed by Anilavaa Chatterjee, a former sports journalist.

Actress Rituparna Sengupta said, “Bela Dey was an inspiration to the women of that time. Women got to know that they could be financially independent and be self-sufficient. I believe that the poster will tell the entire story of this film.”

Bela Dey was a speaker at Akashvani. She had spoken about the rights of women and started a show named Mahila Mahal.

Director Anilavaa Chatterjee said, “Bela Dey believed that some songs can't be the only way to empowerment. So she started to acknowledge the women and make them aware of their rightful places. Rituparna as an actress is very committed towards her work which is absolutely what was needed for this character.”

The film is set to hit the floors on August 29.
