Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Ayushmann Khurrana found US President Donald Trump's tweet appreciating his latest released movie Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan as 'surprising'.

On being asked about it at Hindustan’s Shikhar Samagam 2020, he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times: “It was a very surprising tweet. I want him to work for LGBTQi rights in his country. I hope the LGBTQi community in US gets his support. He should definitely watch our film, it’s very important for him.”

Trump tweeted 'Great' in response to a post by human rights campaigner and LGBTQ+ activist Peter Tatchells on the micro-blogging site.

Peter praised the movie and tweeted: "India: A new #Bollywood rom-com featuring a gay romance is hoping to win over older people, following the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Hurrah! http://ow.ly/mcQs50yro76 @TheQueerAsia @beinglgbti @cadrsunilgupta @NazProjectLdn."

His remark comes just days before he is scheduled to arrive in India for his maiden visit as President.

Apart from New Delhi, he is scheduled to visit Ahmedabad and Agra.

‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ released on Friday.

Actors  Jitendra Kumar, Ayushmann, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao are part of the movie.

It is directed by Hitesh Kewalya.

Touted as the first mainstream commercial gay love story in Bollywood, the movie is a standalone sequel to the 2017 film ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’.
