Amitabh Bachchan turns 80, Narendra Modi describes him as one of India’s most remarkable film personalities

Mumbai: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is still entertaining his fans with his dynamic performance onscreen, turned 80 on Tuesday.

Indian PM Narendra Modi led the nation in wishing him on the special day.

He described Bachchan as one of India’s most remarkable film personalities.

Modi tweeted: "A very happy 80th birthday to Amitabh Bachchan Ji. He is one of India’s most remarkable film personalities who has enthralled and entertained audiences across generations. May he lead a long and healthy life. @SrBachchan." 

Bachcahan had begun his career in the Hindi movie industry with the movie Saat Hindustani in 1969.

Indian World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh said: "Wishing a very 80th Happy Birthday to the one and only @SrBachchan Aap jeeyo hazaaron saal, saal ke din ho pachaas hazaar! Sending you my best wishes sir!"

Actor Gajendra Chauhan tweeted: "Wish you very happy birthday to Sh. Amitabh Bachchan."

Sharing a clip of a cinema hall where Bachchan's Don movie was recently screened, actress Shabana Azmi wrote on Twitter: " Unbelievable audience reaction to #DON at #PVR Juhu yesterday . People mouthing and shouting dialogues, dancing , singing like it’s a rock concert . #SalimJaved #Amitabh Bachchan rule."

Actor Ajay Devgn remarked: " Happy 80th birthday @SrBachchan ! Wishing you a splendid year ahead Sir. You are actually way ahead of all of us and we’re just striving to live up to the best - YOU."

In his career, Bachchan has charmed his fans with his powerful performance in movies like  Anand,  Bombay to Goa,  Bawarchi,  Namak Haraam,  Abhimaan,  Deewaar, Sholay, Don,  Khuda Gawah,  Baghban, among others.

He was last seen in the movie  Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva.
