Mumbai/Tokyo/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has lauded the spirit of Indian women's hockey team, which went down fighting against Great Britain in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 Friday.

Shah Rukh says on Twitter, "Heartbreak!!! But all reasons to hold our heads high. Well played Indian Women’s Hockey Team. You all inspired everyone in India. That itself is a victory."

Interestingly, Shah Rukh had played the role of Indian women's hockey team coach onscreen in popular Hindi sports film Chak De! India, which was released in 2007.

Earlier in the week, Shah Rukh had a friendly talk with India's coach Sjoerd Marijne, whom the actor wittily asked to bring gold "on your way back….for a billion family members".

Shah Rukh's comment had triggered another response from Marjine, who posted, "Thank you for all the support and love. We will give everything again. From: The Real Coach."

Indian women's hockey team went down fighting against Great Britain in the crucial bronze medal match of the Tokyo Games 2020 here on Thursday. Britain defeated India 4-3 in the clash.

The eves finished fourth in the major sports event. This is India's best-ever finish in the grand event.
