After X=Prem, actor Anindya Sengupta revisits 'college life' with Hostel Days

After playing a college goer in Srijit Mukherji's X=Prem earlier this year, Bengali actor Anindya Sengupta slipped into an apparently similar type role in hoichoi's upcoming web series Hostel Days.

Speaking about the film which showcases the bonding among friends in a hostel, Anindya said, "It is a story about friends and their emotional connection. It is about true friendship. We are really banking on the story to portray the emotion which we know as friendship.

"We have tried to put a little bit of grey matter in it. We didn't want it to be absolutely brainless. We have tried to target the OTT audience."

In the web series, Anindya faced the challenge of architecting Orco's character in a way the audience does not feel as an extension of Khilat, his role in X=Prem.

"Since I played a college going guy in X=Prem, there were similar traits between the two characters, Khilat and Orco. Since the actors are the same, there were bound to have some similarities. My challenge was to build a completely different person," Anindya said.

However, the web series Kholam Kuchi, which was released after X=Prem, helped Anindya to come out of Khilat's mould completely.

"While I was shooting for Hostel Days, I had come out of Khilat's character completely as I had done another web series in the middle portraying a completely different role," the actor said.

Along with Anindya, the upcoming web series stars young actors, Arpan Ghosal, Rohaan Bhattacharya, Roshni Bhattacharya in the lead.

Kurmur Kurmur Dhoom Dharakka, the anthem of Hostel Days, was unveiled on Monday.
