Actress Kangana Ranaut on Sunday responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to clean temples across the country and washed the floors of Hanuman Grahi Temple in Ayodhya, a day before the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on Monday.

Several videos of Kangana, who could be seen wearing a traditional saree, have gone viral on the social media where she could be seen cleaning the floor of the temple.

Speaking to Indian news agency ANI, she said: "I wish to motivate people to pick up the broom by participating in this cleanliness drive."

The actress offered her prayers in the temple.

Taking his lead role in the Swachchata Abhiyan, Narendra Modi cleaned the premises of Kalaram Temple in Maharashtra's Nashik recently.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple will be held on Monday.
