Mumbai, May 6 (IBNS): Aamir Khan's Dangal, which premiered in China on Friday, started off on a strong note, raking up Rs 13.19 crore on the opening day.

Dangal is a biopic on the Phogats, one of India's premiere wrestling family.

In it Aamir essays the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler and a Dronacharya Awardee (the highest award bestowed upon coaches by the Government of India).

Flanked by Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who played Geeta and Babita Phogat respectively, the movie grossed around Rs 741 crore in its lifetime.

Posting the figures, business analyst and Bollywood movie reviewer Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Dangal opens in China to an OVERWHELMING response... Opens at No 2 at China BO... Fri $ 2.05 million [₹ 13.19 cr]."
