Youth killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 30 (IBNS): A youth, who was critically injured in Jammu and Kashmir's old city after government forces fired at a group of protesters, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital here, reports said.

Earlier, as the voting ended in the Nawa Kadal area, a group of youth assembled at the main square and hurled stones at the retreating forces.

"They attacked a security vehicle. Few had climbed on it when  the forces fired," a local said.

While Bashir Ahmad was hit by a bullet in abdomen and Haleema was hit with pellet on head, sources said, adding that the injured Bashir later succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura.

Sources said two boys were hit by bullets and one of them has a critical bullet wound in his abdomen.

Bashir Ahmad, a student by profession hails from Nawakadal Srinagar was rushed to the specialized hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

People of the area had taken out a procession amid pro-freedom slogans.

Locals said that people were heading towards the hospital to receive the body of  the youth.

Meanwhile, Chairman of both the factions of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq have called for shutdown on Thursday against killing of youth in old city.
