Yeddyurappa requests Karnataka Governor to invite him for swearing-in as CM

Bengaluru, May 16 (IBNS):  Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) Chief Ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday met  Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala and staked his claim to form a Government, reports said.

Though the BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the Karnataka poll, it fell short of the majority mark (113) by nine seats.

The Congress, which got 78 seats, extended its support to former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's Janata Dal (Secular), which bagged 38 seats under its belt, to form the government.

The Congress has also left the CM's post to the JD(S).

The JD(S) has named Deve Gowda's son and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy as the next CM of the state.

Despite being left alone in the assembly, the BJP exuded confidence in forming the government.

The two independents have extended their supports to the Congress-JD(S) alliance and the BJP respectively.
