Srinagar, May 16 (IBNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti faced protest from self-help groups women wing as they raised pro freedom slogan during an event in Srinagar on Tuesday.

Scores of women raised slogans after they saw the CM as they were brought to the event with an assurance that the programme would be non-political.

Reports further said, Mehbooba Mufti was whisked away by security personnel from the venue immediately.

After the incident, the Chief Minister said, "Women were present in large numbers and probably one of them became unconscious which created
panic."

"I hope this programme is organised again," the Chief Minister added.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah slammed the CM over the incident and tweeted: "They "panicked" & came out shouting pro-freedom slogans! @MehboobaMufti doing what she does best - living in denial."
