Will suspend demand to remove Arvind Subramanian if govt. thinks he is asset: Swamy

New Delhi, Jun 23 (IBNS): BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, a Rajya Sabha MP and former Union Cabinet minister, who has now trained his gun on India's chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian, said in new tweets that he would suspend his demand for the removal of Subramanian if the ruling government, of which he is a part, "thinks that someone who can advise a foreign nation to twist India's arm is to be forgiven and seen as an asset".
"If an Indian?, held patriotic, can advise a foreign nation where he works, to twist India's arm, is to be forgiven, then I suspend my demand," said Swamy in a tweet on Thursday.

"AS to US Cong: 'US initiatives by discriminating against India companies and exporters will exert pressure on India to open up" posted Swamy as a proof of how the new chief economic adviser advised USA to put pressure on India on economic issues.

Swamy has asked that Arvind Subramanian be sacked as the latter is not working in India's interests,

However, the BJP has said Swamy's views on Arvind Subramanian is his personal opinion and not that of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), media reported.

Prior to this, Subramanian Swamy had made a target of  Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan, who was the earlier Economic Adviser and into whose shoes Arvind Subramanian stepped into.

According to a section of the media, Arvind Subramanian could be the next RBI chief.

In a series of tweets earlier, Swamy, a Harvard-educated economist, vented his ire at Arvind Subramanian. "Modi’s chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian had opposed India on IPR till recently."

"Who said to US Cong on 13/3/13 the US should act against India to defend US Pharmaceuticals interests? Arvind Subramanian MoF !! Sack him!!!"

According to  Digvijaya Singh, General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, it is not Arvind Subramanian but Union finance minister Arun Jaitley who is the actual target.

Tweeted Digvijaya Singh, "Subramaniam Swami now guns for Arvind Subramanian Economic Advisor to NDA. Target is Arun Jaitley not Arvind Subramanian." "Is Modi handing over Finance Ministry to Subramaniam Swami?"
