When PM ridicules his predecessor, he hurts nation's dignity: Rahul attacks Modi

New Delhi, Feb 8 (IBNS): The Congress on Wednesday said it won't allow Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak in the Parliament unless he apologises for lowering the image of his predecessor Manmohan Singh, media reports said.

Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi also slammed Modi for attacking Singh and said he has hurt the dignity of the nation.

In a tweet, Gandhi said, "When a Prime Minister reduces himself to ridiculing his predecessor-years his senior,he hurts the dignity of the parliament &the nation."

"He demeans his position and himself more than anyone else. Today's events were saddening and frankly; they were shameful," said he.

Modi on Wednesday came out to attack Singh and said he never had a blot on his image despite so many scams occurring during his tenure.

Attacking the former PM, who had served the nation from 2004-2014, Modi said: "Bathing with a raincoat on is a skill only he knows."

Modi said :"During the time,  when so many scams occurred, not even a blot over his image could be seen. Congress leaders should learn from him."

Modi made the remarks while giving reply to the Motion of Thanks on President's address in the Rajya Sabha in a short while.

Soon after his comments, Congress members in the Rajya Sabha staged a walkout
