Kolkata, Oct 22 (IBNS): At least ten persons were injured after a suburban train hit another local train from behind between Panskura and Khirai railway stations in West Bengal's East Medinipur district on Sunday afternoon, reports said.

According to reports, a Balichak to Howrah bound local train crashed into a Down Midnapore-Howrah EMU, which was waiting for signal near Panskura railway station, at around 2:45 pm.

Few passengers of both trains were injured in the accident.

The South Easter Railway has ordered a high level probe into the incident while the guard of Midnapore-Howrah local and the motorman (driver) of Balichak-Howrah EMU have been suspended till the enquiry is completed.

"A high level probe, under the leadership of Kharagpur division's DRM, has been ordered into the matter," CPRO of South Eastern Railway, Sanjay Ghosh, told IBNS.

Meanwhile, train service in the line was partly disrupted for hours due to the accident.
