Kolkata/Kharagpur, Aug 20 (IBNS): The railway police on Saturday recovered as many as one crore rupees and at least three gold biscuits from the possession of a passenger onboard Mumbai to Howrah bound Geetanjali express (12859), who died during his trip at Kharagpur railway station in West Bengal's West Medinipur district, officials said.
According to reports, the 65-year-old man- Subhash Surana- boarded the train's S4 coach from Chhattisgarh's Raipur and suddenly fell sick when the train crossed Tatanagar station in Jharkhand.

After the train arrived at Kharagpur railway station, police rescued the man and doctors declared him dead.

After opening his luggage to get his identity, police recovered the money and gold biscuits, according to RPF reports.

"When we unlocked his bag, 99,03,490 rupees cash and three gold biscuits were recovered," Kharagpur's station manager B. K. Panda told IBNS.

"He was carrying necessary documents, relating to the money and biscuits, with him," Panda further said.

Railway police have started investigation into the matter.
